Phil Kessel Calls Toronto Reporter an “Idiot” (Video)
On Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs fired head coach Randy Carlyle after the 58-year-old former player failed to find any success in his three-and-a-half years as the club’s bench boss.
Many people in Leafs Nation think that Carlyle is just the first of many casualties to come, as the Leafs continue to search for a formula that will help them win their first playoff series in over a decade. Some believe leading goalscorer Phil Kessel could be the next body out the door, as rumors have spread that Carlyle’s demise could have something to do with Kessel’s lack of consistency, his poor attitude in the room, and his inability to be coached.
Former Maple Leafs head coach Ron Wilson went so far as to suggest that Kessel and the rest of the Leafs’ core group of players are un-coachable during an interview with TSN Radio on Tuesday. And Toronto Star reporter Dave Feschuk was another one of those who has publicly suggested that Kessel may be giving his coaches a hard time. But when Feschuk went to the man himself to ask him if he’s “a difficult guy to coach,” Phil Kessel didn’t seem to appreciate the line of questioning. So he fired back with his own assessment of Feschuk.
