This Cole Aldrich Hook Shot Airball Sums Up the Knicks 13-Game Losing Streak (Video)
The New York Knicks suffered a 101-91 drubbing last night at the hands of the Washington Wizards. The loss puts their record at 5-33 (not a typo) and extended their franchise-record losing streak to 13 games.
There is much you could say about this stretched of sustained futility. You could talk about the injuries. (Oh, Carmelo.) Or you could talk about the inconsistent play from a former Sixth Man of the Year. (Have fun in Cleveland, J.R.) But really, it just comes down to lack of talent and execution. And nothing summarizes that—and the 13-game losing streak, and the entire sh*tty season—more concisely than this pathetic Cole Aldrich hook shot air ball.
The reaction of Carmelo Anthony on the bench pretty much says it all:
The funny thing is that, although Aldrich is averaging just 6.0 PPG, his FG% is a robust .518 because he doesn’t usually try sky hooks. But last night, while he scored 11 points, his FG% dipped to .454 because of that one shot.
The lesson? Stick to the basics, Cole.
