Seton Hall’s Sterling Gibbs Ejected For Punching Villanova Player (Video)

Seton Hall Sterling Gibbs ejected punch Nova

Things got ugly during the latter portion of last night’s Big East match-up between Seton Hall and No. 6 Villanova, as the Pirates’ Sterling Gibbs was assessed a flagrant foul 2 and ejected for punching the Wildcats’ Ryan Arcidiacono in the face.

The incident occurred with just under five minutes remaining in the game and Nova leading by 26 points.  That’s when frustrations really began to boil over for the Seton Hall players, and Gibbs did this:

After the game, which Villanova won by a score of 80-54, Gibbs issued the following sincere apology to Arcidiacono via Twitter:

And Arcidiacono accepted:

I guess the punch is now water under the bridge.  That was quick.
