Ryan Getzlaf-Alex Ovechkin Feud: Ovechkin Says Getzlaf Is Just Jealous of His Hair (Video)
It’s official. There’s now a Ryan Getzlaf-Alex Ovechkin feud. And while it may still be in its infancy, it could get awesome if Getzlaf decides to take it to the next level.
It all started on Sunday in Anaheim, after Getzlaf’s Ducks lost 5-3 to Ovechkin’s Capitals. Speaking to members of the media, Getzlaf accused Ovechkin of being a thespian.
“I didn’t know he was going to dive tonight the way he did all over the f*cking ice,” Getzlaf whined after the game. “That part of it is a little embarrassing, pardon my language. He’s a great player. He’s going to score goals and make plays. That other stuff’s embarrassing.”
Here, in case you were wondering, is the play that got Getzlaf all riled up:
Clearly a slash, clearly embellished. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that, on Tuesday, Ovechkin fired back.
“”Maybe he’s just jealous. I have hair, he don’t have hair,” Ovechkin told Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post. “We can start talking about it all day long. I think it was comment because he was disappointed they lost. Again, it is what it is.”
The next step, should Ryan Getzlaf choose to take it, will be to offer to buy Alex Ovechkin a drink and show him his Stanley Cup ring and Olympic gold medals.
I sincerely hope this happens. Hockey needs more feuds.
