A few weeks ago it occurred to me that we haven’t heard anything about Craig Sager in a while. And upon realizing that, I immediately feared the worst. That’s how it went with the late great Stuart Scott. The man gave a moving speech at the 2014 ESPY awards, then we didn’t hear anything about him until news broke that he’d lost his battle with cancer.

Fortunately, Sager’s story will not play out that way. After making a surprise appearance (via satellite) at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game a few weeks back, Sager made it official last night. Or I should say, his son, Craig Sager Jr., made it official:

This is absolutely fantastic news. Basketball’s Don Cherry is one of the most well-liked and respected sports reporters in America. And not just among fans, but among the players and coaches he covers as well.

His garish suits and blazers will be a sight for sore eyes.

See you on TNT March 5, Craig.
