Watch Chris Paul Scream at DeAndre Jordan For Not Shooting The Ball (Video)
Why would Chris Paul scream at DeAndre Jordan for not shooting the ball during last night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers? Allow me to explain.
With the game tied, 87-87, and just 2.8 seconds remaining on the game clock and 1.7 remaining on the shot clock, Chris Paul received an inbound pass and put up a shot just as the shot clock was about to expire. His shot missed the target and DeAndre Jordan grabbed the rebound. But after hearing the buzzer for the shot clock go off, Jordan just assumed that the game was over.
It was not.
When DeAndre Jordan corralled the rebound, there was still 0.7 seconds remaining on the game-clock, which explains why Chris Paul was screaming at the Clippers center to shoot the ball.
Check it out:
And here’s a closer look at Chris Paul screaming at DeAndre Jordan:
Now, with all due respect to DeAndre Jordan, he probably figured that with only a 1.1 second difference between the shot clock and the game clock, he didn’t really have enough time to put the rebound back up for a potential game-winning basket. And he may be right.
For some reason, after Paul’s miss, the scoreboard operators stopped the game clock with 0.7 seconds remaining. That was just before Jordan had even corralled the rebound, so in all likelihood, he probably wouldn’t have got the shot off in time had he tried.
But the fact of the matter is that DeAndre Jordan didn’t even try, he was yelled at by Chris Paul, and the Clippers went on to lose in overtime, 98-93.
