These days, any pro athlete who gets named MVP of a major sporting event like the World Series or the Super Bowl wins a free car. Sometimes it’s a Chevy. Sometimes it’s a Ford. But they always get one. And the one thing these free cars all have in common is that the pro athletes who win them don’t really need them. Because they already have cars. Because they’re millionaires.

Luckily, Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook knows what to do with free cars he doesn’t need. When he won a 2015 Kia Sorrento as the MVP of the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, he told the Thunder he wanted to give the car away to somebody who really needed it. So the Thunder contacted Sunbeam Family Services, an Oklahoma charity, and asked them if they knew any worthy candidates. And Sunbeam had just the person: 19-year-old single mom Kerstin Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was only 14 years old—”just a child,” she says—when she got pregnant with her first son. Then she was just 17 when she got pregnant with her second. As you can imagine, it’s not easy to be a mother of two before graduating high school. However, with assistance from Sunbeam, Kerstin has worked her butt off to provide for her boys while finishing up high school. And now she’s been given another helping hand by Westbrook.

Unfortunately we can’t embed the video of the presentation. But you can (and should) watch it here. Things get pretty emotional.

Hats off to Russell Westbrook for being a class act.
