Two D-II Baseball Teams Scored 61 Combined Runs In a Game (Tweet)
I’ll be the first to admit something pretty incredible has to happen for us to turn our focus from the flurry of pro sports activity to the world of D-II baseball. Well, something pretty incredible DID happen between Minnesota State and Bemidji (?) State on Saturday. The two D-II baseball teams scored a combined 61 runs in one game.
It’s kind of ridiculous to think that a team could score 20 runs and not only lose, but lose by 21 runs. But that’s exactly what happened in this slugfest.
Here’s a Tweet, if you need some proof via social media:

Minnesota State earned the win by scoring a crapload of runs in a game that was called off using the mercy rule in the eighth inning. Perhaps more remarkable was the fact that this was the second game of a doubleheader, so I’m sure everyone involved was mentally and physically drained after the game finally ended—especially the pitchers.
