Nats, Wizards, and Caps

Last night was a great night to be a DC sports reporter. Or a DC sports fan. While most nights might give you an interesting play, and maybe a win for the hometown team, the Washington Post relished OT wins by two of its teams (Nats and Caps), and another huge regulation playoff win from the Wizards.

I think, at this point, the less said about the Redskins, the better. I mean, let DC sports fans enjoy this. The Redskins will just kill everyone’s mood.

If you want to get technical, the Nats’ win was an extra innings victory, but I think you know what I mean. The Caps beat the Islanders 2-1 in OT to tie their playoff series up at 2-2. And the Wizards took a 2-0 lead in their series against the Raptors.

Sure, the Nats win wasn’t in the playoffs, so it was lower-stakes, but we can’t control the sports calendar to have ALL the big sports games line up at once, can we?

Here’s a Tweet that shows the headline this morning in Washington:

All in all, I would say DC fans have a pretty good reason for showing up at work a little late today. But that doesn’t mean their bosses will be okay with it.
