Lionel Messi Scores Ankle-Breaking Goal vs. Bayern Munich (Video)
In case you thought Lionel Messi was starting to get old and washed up, we should probably remind you that the Barcelona star is only 27 years old (turning 28 in June). He also has 40 goals and 18 assists in 38 La Liga games this season, and he is still capable of producing highlight reel goals like this one from his team’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich during the first leg of their UEFA Championship League semi-final match earlier today:
That poor soul he left in the dust was Bayern defender Jerome Boateng. It was Messi’s second goal of the day, and his tournament-leading 10th in Champions League play.
He may have surrendered the last two Ballon d’Or awards to rival Cristiano Ronaldo, but I suggest we wait a few years before writing off the Argentine’s chances of winning another.
