Cops Arrest Lightning Fan at Arena with a Handgun (Video)
I think we’ve gone through so many metal detectors in our lives that we sort of forget why they’re there. They exist so guys like this 27 year-old Tampa Bay Lightning fan don’t mosey on in to the arena with a loaded handgun. There are all sorts of bad things that can happen. He could get drunk and misplace it. He could get it stolen in a crowd. He could, of course, shoot a bunch of people. But most likely, he’ll just make everyone else really, really uncomfortable.
He had a concealed carry permit, but that doesn’t allow you to take your gun anywhere. There are all sorts of exemptions like schools, places where alcohol is served (like NHL playoff games), and others.
Here’s a clip of the Lightning fan getting booked, with his gun taken away.

This is a very “Florida” story, but I think the icing on the cake is the news team’s Tweet with #gobolts, as though this is just a tiny hiccup, like a fan spilling a beer.
