Crazy Spin! Watch This Christian Colon Foul Ball Take a 90-Degree Turn and Roll Fair (Video)

There is no such thing as a trick shot in baseball. However, if there was, it would probably look something like this Christian Colon foul ball from Sunday’s Royals-Tigers game.

In the top of the second, with a runner on second and two outs, Colon fouled off a 1-1 pitch from Detroit pitcher Shane Greene. Or at least he thought he did. The ball took off at about a 30º angle and went about three feet foul. However, there was a ton of spin on the ball, so when it got about three feet foul, it suddenly took a 90º turn back toward fair territory, right into the awaiting glove of Miguel Cabrera at first base.

It was kind of like the time Bugs Bunny used magnets on Michael Jordan‘s golf ball in Space Jam. Only 100% real.

Take a look:

I’ve seen plenty of balls roll from foul to fair in my day, but that was ridiculous.

Don’t feel sorry for the Royals, though. This bit of bad luck didn’t keep them from winning the game 2-1 in ten innings.
