Chip Kelly Responds to LeSean McCoy’s Racism Allegations
After being shipped from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso, LeSean McCoy suggested that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is racist because he “got rid of all the black players” during an interview for ESPN The Magazine.
Today, Chip Kelly responded to those comments for the first time while speaking with the media. Here’s what he had to say, via ESPN:
“I’ve got great respect for LeSean,” Kelly said Thursday in his first public reaction to McCoy’s comments. “However, in that situation, I think he’s wrong. We put a lot of time looking into character and factors that go into selection and retention of players. Color’s never been one of them.”
Is LeSean McCoy buying this explanation from Kelly? I wouldn’t count on it.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens between these two when the Bills travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in week 14 of the 2015 NFL season.
