Leah and Devon Still to Receive Jimmy V Perseverance Award at ESPYs
More good news for Devon Still and his daughter Leah: Just over two months after being told that her Stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer was in remission, Leah Still has been informed that both she and her father will be presented with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at this year’s ESPYs.
Almost one year ago to the day, Leah was diagnosed with the rare form of pediatric cancer, leaving her with a 50 percent chance of surviving. But the 5-year-old daughter of the Bengals defensive tackle persevered with the help of her family and the support of thousands of fans across the country. And now that perseverance will be recognized with one of sports’ most notable awards at the 2015 ESPYs on July 15.
Here’s what ESPN Films Senior VP and ESPYs overseer Connor Schell had to say about the achievement, via ESPN:
“The perseverance that Devon and Leah have shown throughout this unfortunate process is incredibly moving…”
“Each day that she fights, her father is by her side, and their love and strength has captivated all of us in the sports world and beyond.”
