Neymar Headbutt Results in Red Card vs. Colombia (Video)
Neymar got off to an incredible start at this year’s Copa America tournament in Chile, scoring a goal and setting up another during Brazil’s 2-1 win in their opening match against Peru. It looked like this could be the moment when the 23-year-old forward finally leads his country to a major tournament victory (and no, the Confederations Cup does not count as a major international tournament).
However, that may no longer be possible, as the Barcelona star was given a straight red card during Brazil’s second match of the tournament against Colombia last night after he attempted to headbutt a member of the opposition.
You can check out the Neymar headbutt below:
Brazil would go on to lose the game by a score of 1-0, and now they will likely be without Neymar for at least their final group stage match against Venezuela, and perhaps even longer—should they make it past the first round.
Isn’t it amazing how one ill-advised headbutt can take you from being on top of a tournament, to out of it entirely? Way to stay disciplined, Neymar.
