Rap mogul Sean Combs, a.k.a. P. Diddy, was arrested on the UCLA campus earlier today after he allegedly swung a kettlebell at the football team’s strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi.  Diddy is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is currently being held in the campus jail.

So what exactly happened?  It’s tough to say.  As usual, there’s two sides to the story, according to TMZ.

It all started during a strength and conditioning session Monday morning.  Sources indicate that Alosi (who you may remember from this incident during his time with the New York Jets) was picking on Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, “screaming intensely at him.” As Alosi was riding the redshirt junior cornerback, Diddy was watching from the sideline. And later on in the day, he decided to confront the coach in his office.

This is where the two stories begin to go their separate ways.

According to a UCLA source, when Diddy entered the room, Alosi was on the phone and told the rapper to hang on.  Diddy wasn’t interested in waiting, so he picked up a kettlebell and swung it at Alosi, narrowly missing him with a strike that was described as being hard enough that if it had connected, it “could have killed Alosi.”

The UCLA source also claims that there is video of the altercation, and that the UCLA staff often refers to P. Diddy as a “helicopter dad” for hovering over the practices, which is pretty hilarious.

As for Sean Comb’s sources, they say P. Diddy is playing the self defense card, claiming he entered Alosi’s office to talk, and when the coach told him to leave or he’d call security, Diddy responded by saying, “Fine, I’ll call police.”  That’s when Alosi (apparently) snapped and attacked Diddy, who held up a kettelbell in self defense.

Right now, it sounds like the cops are buying Alosi’s story more than Diddy’s, as the latter is the one who is being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Whose story are you buying?
