Pete Rose All-Star Game Appearance: Cincinnati Fans Embrace Disgraced Hit King (Videos)

Rumors of a possible Pete Rose All-Star Game appearance began circulating several months ago, along with talk of a possible limited reinstatement by new Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred.

In light of the recent publication of evidence that proves Rose did bet on baseball while still playing, the likelihood of reinstatement of any kind now seems unlikely. However, on Tuesday night, Rose did get to appear on the field along with several other Reds legends before the 2015 MLB All-Star Game in Cincinnati.

As expected, the fans at the Great American Ballpark gave Charlie Hustle a rousing ovation—though there were definitely some boos mixed in there as well, most likely from visiting fans.

Regardless of whether you think Pete Rose’s lifetime ban should or should not be lifted, or whether you think he should or should not be in the Hall of Fame, I think we can all agree the whole situation just really sucks. Baseball would be better with Pete Rose.
