Mexico vs Trinidad and Tobago Gold Cup

While most of you were probably either busy watching the ESPYs or taking a break from the sports world entirely on Wednesday night, there was a pretty amazing Gold Cup match taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina, between Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago.

What made this group stage match between two mediocre teams so amazing?  How about seven second half goals, including a tying goal from Mexico in the 88th minute, a go-ahead goal from them in the 90th minutes, and an equalizer from Trinidad and Tobago off a corner kick in the 93rd minute.

The final result was a 4-4 draw, and it was a pretty deserving point for both teams, as they combined to give us an absolute thriller.  Here are the highlights:

Could this be an early candidate for the 2016 ESPY for “Best Game”?  At the moment, I’d say it’s in the lead.  But with a full year ahead of us, I’m sure we’ll forget all about it by the time next year’s ESPY Awards ceremony rolls around.
