Cole Hamels no-hitter

With everyone expecting the Philadelphia Phillies to trade Cole Hamels any day now, the left-handed starting pitcher did the team a huge favor and upped his trade value by no-hitting the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

Hamels needed 129 pitches to get through all nine innings, in which he allowed just two walks while striking out 13 during the Phillies’ 5-0 victory.  However, it was almost all for not, as Phils center fielder Odubel Herrera nearly made a mess out of a routine fly ball for the final out of the ballgame.

That was close. Thankfully, Herrera was able to recover, and Hamels was able to secure his first career no-hitter in what will likely be his last game in a Phillies uniform.

What a way to go out.
