Oregon Teases New Glow-in-the-Dark Uniforms on Twitter (Pic)
Back in the day, the Oregon Ducks had classic football uniforms with big bold stripes in primary colors and a cartoon duck on the shoulder. However, in the late 90s they asked Nike founder and CEO Phil Knight to help create cool uniforms that would help them attract recruits. And over the next 15 years, Nike and Oregon completely revolutionized football uniforms.
First they introduced a new template with modern lines and slightly bolder colors. Then they went bolder with the colors. Then they added new textures and patterns. Then they basically did away with the notion of school colors. Then they started wearing a different uniform combo almost every single week. And then, finally, college programs and NFL teams followed suit.
So what do the trendsetting Ducks have in store for us this year? Well, if you believe every hashtag you read, it’s glow-in-the-dark uniforms.

Will this uniform set really be glow-in-the-dark or “electric,” or is the now-iconic duck-wing shoulder decal just reflective? We’ll have to wait to find out. But you can be sure that, whatever the case, half the programs in college football will be doing the same thing in about five years.
