Cespedes Error Turns Bases Loaded Single Into Little League Grand Slam (Video)
The struggling Nationals started off last week with two brutal late-innings losses to the Cardinals. However, after that they turned things around, reeling off five straight wins and narrowing the gap in the NL East to just four games heading into a crucial three-game set against the Mets this week.
Monday’s series opener? That proved to be a bit of a setback with the Nats losing 8-5 and falling five games back of the Mets. But on Tuesday, up 3-1 against Mets ace Matt Harvey in the bottom of the sixth, it looked like luck was finally on their side when a brutal Yoenis Cespedes error in center field turned an RBI single by Michael Taylor into a little league grand slam.

Unfortunately, there’s a reason why I set this post up by placing it into the context of the Nats’ recent struggles. And that reason is—yep, you guessed it—after taking a 7-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth, the Nats totally blew the game.
The Mets scored six runs the following inning, including a bases loaded double by Cespedes. Then they scored another run in the top of the eighth to win the game 8-7.
