kayak fisherman fights off aggressive hammerhead

For some reason, kayak fishing is all the rage these days. But I quite frankly do not understand it.

I mean, kayak fishing on a lake? Sure, I’m down with that. Go fishing and get a workout at the same time. Smart.

Kayak fishing on the ocean? With sharks? While you’re basically reeling the bait right up to where you are sitting just inches off the water? Not smart. Very stupid in fact.

Of course, I’m sure proponents of kayak fishing would argue something like, “oh, you rarely see sharks,” or “sharks don’t really pose a danger.” But I say tell that to the kayak fisherman in California who had to fight off a ridiculously aggressive hammerhead with his paddle.

Oh yeah, that’s right. The guy was just going along, enjoying a nice sunny day out on the ocean, when a hammerhead shark swam up and tried to ram his kayak…over, and over, and over, and over.

Take a look:

Yep, I’ve seen enough. Everybody stop going fishing in kayaks, okay?
