NFL Tells Weed-Legalization Group to Stop Using the Steelers Logo
Even under the best of circumstances, you’re probably not going to get away with being able to use an NFL trademark to sell whatever your product is. So when it came to the league’s attention that NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, was using a spoof of the Steelers logo with weed leaves on it, the league took the predictable reaction and fired off a cease and desist to the group.
And, not wanting to start a crusade against the well-funded and litigious NFL, the weed group backed down. There are plenty of other logos out there to spoof. Don’t need to break the bank going after the Steelers.
Frankly, the logo isn’t even THAT clever. And do you really want to be associated with Ben Roethlisberger?
