Alcides Escobar Hits Leadoff Homer For Royals In World Series Game One (Video)

The Kansas City Royals couldn’t have asked for a better start to this year’s World Series against the Mets, as Alcides Escobar followed a 1-2-3 first inning by pitcher Edinson Volquez with a lead-off, inside-the-park homer on the first pitch he saw from Matt Harvey in the bottom half of the inning during Game One tonight.

It was the first inside-the-park homer in the World Series since George “Mule” Haas hit one for the Philadelphia Athletics back in 1929.

Escobar’s fly ball to center field probably should have been caught by Yoenis Cespedes, but that wouldn’t have been any fun at all. Check it out:
