Jae Crowder

Cue the sad tuba music. Jae Crowder was inbounding a pass during last night’s Celtics-Pacers game at the end of the first half. Down by six, and not willing to go quietly into their locker room, he attempted a full court pass that would put his Celts in position to score with 1.1 seconds left.

Only problem is Crowder cut out the middleman and just made the shot himself from the other side of the court. It was a pretty fantastic shot, but it didn’t count, obviously.

Take a look:

The crowd’s reaction is pretty funny. It was tantamount to “Whooaa-What the hell just happened?” I don’t think anyone but the most casual sports fan would have believed it counted, but it was still a great shot. Or a terrible inbounds. I guess it depends on how you look at it.
