French

Just five days after the terror attacks in Paris, the French Mens National team took to Wembley Stadium to square off against England in a friendly match. England took time to make several gestures to France before the game, and France returned the consideration by publicly thanking England for their hospitality and support on the cover of L’Equipe.

It’s a simple cover, but it conveys the sentiment well enough:

Wembley was lit up like the French flag during the match, and supporters of both sides came together to sing the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise.”

The picture above shows a circle of players and refs lined up just before kickoff for a moment of respect prior to the start of the game.

Vive la France!
