KHL Player Gets Throat Slashed by a Skate During Scary On-Ice Incident (Video)

A player in the KHL is lucky to have walked away virtually unharmed after taking a skate blade to the throat in a freak accident on the ice.

Yugra forward Vitaly Sitnikov had Ladislav Nagy fall over his stick after Nagy took a shot on goal. Nagy tumbled headfirst and as he did so, his skate came up and caught Sitnikov right in the throat. 

Fortunately, no arteries were hit, and Sitnikov was more or less fine after a few stitches. He’ll sit out the next game, but there’s no long-term threat to his health or his career from the incident, which is a huge relief.

This could have been much, much worse, and we’re very happy for all involved that it looked far worse than it was.
