Nationwide Says It’s Monitoring The Peyton Manning HGH Allegations
Uh-oh, Nationwide insurance is not in the dark about these Peyton Manning allegations and they are closely watching their company spokesman. According to an Al Jazeera report Sunday, Manning received human growth hormone from an anti-aging clinic in Indianapolis to recover from neck surgeries in 2011.
“Nationwide is aware of the reports involving Peyton Manning and is monitoring the situation,” the company said Monday in an emailed statement.
Columbus-based Nationwide, which spends millions annually on sports marketing, has had ties with the NFL and Manning since signing separate sponsorship deals in the summer of 2014.
Last year, Manning was Nationwide’s most profitable spokesman:
The 30-second television spot in which Manning sings about “chicken parm” and that “new car smell” to the tune of the Nationwide’s “on your side” jingle is proving to be an historic one. “From a paid-media perspective, it’s one of our single most effective ads ever,” Hanley told me. “From a social-media perspective, ‘Jingle’ is by far the most talked about ads in the history of Nationwide.”
Hanley said the commercial has made 20 million “organic impressions” from people sharing the content on Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and Twitter (NASDAQ:TWTR), multiples of what it typically sees.
They would hate to terminate this extremely profitable relationship, but business is business and they don’t want to be tied to any type of wrongdoing.
