Mike McCarthy On Eddie Lacy: Stop Being Fat or You Won’t Play Next Year
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy loves to eat. It’s no secret, he came waaaaay oversized this year and it has been a problem all year. Lacy was 220 lb in his final season at Alabama, 231 lb at the NFL Combine, and 242 lb when weighed this year at training camp. That is a HUGE problem.
After two consecutive 1,000-yard plus seasons, Lacy regressed with 758 rushing yards and three touchdowns on a 4.1 yards per carry average. Coach Mike McCarthy had this to say about his playing weight:
McCarthy said Lacy is overweight, and that if he doesn’t lose weight this offseason, he’s not going to be on the field for the Packers in the fall.
“Eddie’s got a lot of work to do,” McCarthy said. “I’m stating the obvious. His offseason last year was not what it should be and he never recovered from it. He cannot play at the weight he did this year.”
