Report: NFL Investigating the Peyton Manning HGH Allegations
The NFL has announced that it is currently looking into the Al Jazeera report released in December that linked several high-profile athletes to a PED scandal.
According to league spokesperson Brian McCarthy, the investigation has been underway for a few weeks now, as they continue to review all necessary documents and records regarding the matter. There is no timetable for this investigation and it is not expected to be completed before Super Bowl 50 on February 7th.
Peyton Manning was one of the athletes named in the report, which was based on the claims made by an intern from an anti-aging clinic in Indianapolis. According to the report, Manning’s wife was receiving packages of HGH from the clinic back in 2011, while the Broncos quarterback was recovering from a neck injury. The intern, Charlie Sly, has since backtracked on his comments, claiming he lied to reporters after he realized he was being recorded without his consent.
Although the NFL is still looking into this story, they have declined to take part in the MLB and U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s investigation, opting to perform their own review instead.
