Patriots’ J.J. Worton Arrested for Allegedly Groping Woman and Knocking Out Her Boyfriend
New England Patriots practice squad wide receiver J.J. Worton was arrested early Saturday morning in Foxborough after allegedly groping two women in a bar and knocking out one of their boyfriends.
According to the police report, Worton claims he was leaving Waxy O’Connors Irish Pub in Foxborough when he accidentally brushed against the backsides of two women. At that point he was confronted by a man who identified himself as the boyfriend of one of the women and was forced to defend himself.
After the confrontation, Worton left in a car with three other people and was not there when police arrived to investigate the reported assault. They late pulled the car over, identified Worton, and arrested him.
According to the women at the bar, the inappropriate contact was no accident. They say he grabbed their butts, and when one of their boyfriends confronted him, he knocked him out cold.
Until now, J.J. Worton was probably most famous as that guy from UCF who made that insane, game-winning, diving one-handed catch to beat Temple back in 2013.
Now he’s been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 and over, plus one count of straight up assault and battery. And seeing how his practice squad contract with the Patriots expired when the Pats lost to the Broncos on Sunday, his time in New England is certainly finished.
So much for the amazing catch.
