Karl Anthony-Towns is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, but even for the most elite, sometimes a jaw-dropping shot has to get waved off. Here is one such case.

Timberwolves PG Ricky Rubio went in for a baseline layup after moving down the court and was fouled, missing the shot. Towns got the uncontested board, then halfheartedly, from pretty much behind the backboard, tossed up a shot while facing the crowd. It swished, the crowd groaned, knowing it wouldn’t count, and everyone took a breath and got on with their lives.

But it WAS an awesome shot. Take a look:

He should have gotten at least one point for that, legal or not.
