Earlier this week, a young boy from the remote region of southern Afghanistan became a viral sensation after footage of him playing soccer wearing a plastic bag doctored to look like a Lionel Messi jersey made the rounds online.

Here’s a tweet of pics featuring the boy and his jersey:

The boy’s presence didn’t escape the attention of Messi himself, who has apparently contacted five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi to arrange a meeting with him and his family.

But rather than meet Murtaza and his family at a safer, more familiar location (like Barcelona), Messi will actually be making the trip to the boy’s hometown in the Ghanzi region. No word on when it will take place, but a date has reportedly been set.
