TheBlaze Anchor Slams Beyoncé For “Ramrodding an Aggressive Agenda Down Our Throats” at Super Bowl 50 (Video)
Meet Tomi Lahren. Tomi is just 23 years old and already has her own show on TheBlaze, the cable channel founded by conservative talk radio personality Glenn Beck. However, despite her incredible early success, Tomi generally seems pretty angry—mostly about things liberals do.
This week? Well this week Tomi Lahren is obviously angry about Beyoncé and her controversial Super Bowl 50 halftime performance that referenced the Black Panthers.
Here’s her initial criticism of Beyoncé earlier this week:
And here’s her followup segment where she addresses the negative backlash:
Of course, the merits of Beyoncé’s politically charged performance are worth debating. As Lahren points out, the Super Bowl does bring people of all races and political orientations together. The Black Panther movement was aggressive and violent. It’s not unreasonable to argue that a less controversial message might have been better.
But don’t be fooled by Lahren. She is not engaged in a thoughtful discourse or a “real conversation about race.” She has no interest in actually listening to arguments from the other side. Instead, she is literally doing the exact same thing she accuses Beyoncé of doing: dividing people with fear and anger so they rally to her cause. And in Lahren’s case, her “cause” is getting people to tune in to TheBlaze.
There are thoughtful arguments against Beyoncé’s halftime performance. This is not one of them.
