Manny Pacquiao is a deeply religious man who just happens to punch people in the face and body for a living. Manny may have taken one too many shots to the head, because on Tuesday while in his native Philippines he upset the ‘Gay community’ when he said animals are better than gay people.

“It’s just common sense,” said the 37-year-old Pacquiao, who is currently a member of the House of Representatives. “Have you seen any animal having male-to-male or female-to-female relations?”

Animals, he said, are better because they recognize gender differences, and “if you have male-to-male or female-to-female (relationships), then people are worse than animals.”

Pacquiao took to social media to apologize for his remarks, here’s what he said on Instagram:

“I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt. I still stand on my belief that I’m against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I’m not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I’m praying for you.”
