Gary Payton: “I Could Never Play Basketball In This Soft Era”
Former NBA star guard of the Seattle Supersonics that are now the Oklahoma City Thunder was easily one of the toughest players while he played in the league for 13 years. Payton has spoken out many times since he’s been retired on how soft the league is now compared to when he played.
Nicknamed “The Glove,” Payton terrorized opposing guards on the defensive end with a relentless tenacity and trash talk that was second to none. Back then it was fine, today’s NBA, you’re getting a technical foul or thrown out of the game.
Gary had this to say on Twitter:
I could never play basketball in this soft era. All of my contract money would go toward fines. Lol

While he’s right, it’s not the players fault that rules were put in place to basically take out the competitiveness of what the NBA use to be. The flopping on the other hand is an entirely different story.
