In news that’s not likely to surprise anyone with a cursory understanding of the NFL, the Patriots have apparently offered Tom Brady a two-year contract extension that would keep him with the club through 2019. Brady is currently under contract for both this upcoming season (2017), and the next (2018).

Brady is currently 39 years old, and this contract would keep him a Patriot until his early 40s, which is something he’s an expressed an interest in.

While the specifics aren’t known, the extension would likely lower the hit the Pats take on his salary, which is slated to be $15 million this season—whereas they only have about $13 million under the cap currently.

The deal may not be executed until the team solves some of its other outstanding contracts, but sources say the agreement is imminent.
