“Dunk City” Kicks Off NCAA Tournament in Style (Video)

Dunk City Play-In Game

In 2013, the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s basketball team took the NCAA Tournament by storm, becoming the first No. 15 seed in the tourney’s history to make it all the way to the Sweet 16.

This year, FGCU is back in the tournament.  But in order to get a shot at repeating their Cinderella run (this time as a No. 16 seed) they had to win a play-in game against Fairleigh Dickinson University.

They would win that play-in game in convincing fashion on Tuesday night, 96-65, and their route began in typical “Dunk City” style:

Up next for FCGU is the No. 1 seed North Carolina Tar Heels.

While it’s highly unlikely that the Eagles emerge victorious from their first round match-up, their previous accomplishments do make this one of the most intriguing 1-vs-16 match-ups that the tournament has ever seen.
