Stewart Cink Walking Away from Golf to Take Care of Wife While She Battles Breast Cancer (Tweet)
Stewart Cink is a man who has his priorities in order. On Tuesday, the 2009 British Open champion announced via Twitter that his wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer and that he was therefore taking an indefinite break from golf to take care of her.
“Last week my wife, Lisa, and I received some unfortunate news,” Cink wrote. “Lisa has been diagnosed with breast cancer—a startling and unexpected revelation for everyone in our family.
“We are still in the process of figuring out exactly what she is fighting, and the uncertainty continues to be very difficult.
“In order to assist Lisa in meeting this challenge,” Cink continued, “I will be stepping away from competitive golf until circumstances improve for her. Hopefully that day will come quickly.”

Stewart Cink, 42, had been expected to play in this weekend’s Wells Fargo Championship. However, he withdrew on Tuesday just prior to posting this message.
If you’re the praying type, send a few good ones to the man upstairs on behalf of Stewart, his wife Lisa, and their two sons Connor and Reagan.
