Boxing Coach Freddie Roach Says He’ll Train Conor McGregor for Mayweather Fight, But He’ll Still Lose (Video)
All this talk about Floyd Mayweather possibly fighting Conor McGregor may be entertaining, but at the end of the day it is absolute nonsense. Mayweather would wipe the floor with McGregor in the boxing ring. McGregor would wipe the floor with Mayweather in the MMA octagon. It’s like debating whether the Golden State Warriors would beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in a game of hockey.
Still, the chatter persists for some reason. And now we even have legendary boxing coach Freddie Roach chiming in.
SB Nation’s “Fight Hub TV” caught up with Roach this week and asked him about the supposed Mayweather-McGregor rumors. The coach said he’s been asked if he’d train McGregor and that, yes, he would do it. But he also said it would take at least three years to get McGregor ready, and even then he’d still lose.
Take a look:
Roach has has a pretty great career coaching guys like Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto out of his Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles. But don’t hold your breath for a partnership with Conor McGregor. It’s not going to happen.
