The Seattle Seahawks Are Auctioning Off a ‘Used Draft Chair’…Seriously
It’s become clear now that the NFL is making a pretty huge deal out of its annual draft. It’s an opportunity for the league to draw attention to itself in the middle of the off-season, and the teams seem to be feasting on the opportunity as well. Take the Seattle Seahawks, for example, who are auctioning off a “used draft chair.”
What is that exactly?
According to the item description, “TEAM REPRESENTATIVES OCCUPIED THIS CHAIR FROM 2011 – 2014 AT DRAFT EVENT AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL IN NYC.”
Pretty sexy, huh? You might think that this is just another way for the team to drum up some money for charity, right? Maybe. It says 100% of the net proceeds go to NFL and team charities.
So who would want a chair that touched Seattle Seahawks front office asses once per year from 2011-2014? (Why did they retire the chair, anyway? Weird.) About 15 folks, judging from the bid history. Maybe the Seahawks will buy it back and reinstall it at the new draft headquarters in Chicago. Never let go of a nice comfy chair.
