This Sevilla-Liverpool Fan Brawl from Wednesday’s Europa League Final Was Pretty Entertaining (Videos + Pics)
The Europa League is like the NIT of European soccer. While all the really great teams from each country go play in the Champions League, the pretty good ones play in the continental consolation bracket.
Naturally, most casual North American soccer fans don’t pay any attention to the Europa Leauge. So Wednesday’s Sevilla-Liverpool final was not really on the radar. But fans of those two teams were pretty jacked up for the final. And that led to a pretty entertaining Sevilla-Liverpool fan brawl on a field-level concourse right behind one of the goals.
The skirmish wasn’t particularly vicious, and best we can tell nobody even tried to set the stadium on fire. In fact, it’s precisely the fact that the brawl wasn’t vicious that made it great. Sometimes it’s more entertaining to watch yuppy-looking dudes rage against the machine than watch actual thugs bash each others’ brains in.
Here are a couple of fan-shot videos that give you an idea of the location and scale of the melee:
And here are some excellent photos that you have to think might send a few people to the unemployment line:
Seriously, aren’t those great?
Oh, and in case you actually were curious, Sevilla won the game 3-1.
