Mike Napoli Hits Home Run for Indians Fan Battling Cancer (Video + Pics)
Lots of fans bring signs to baseball games, but one particular sign at Monday’s Indians-Rangers game at Progressive Filed caught the attention of Indians slugger Mike Napoli. That sign, which was held by a woman, read, “Chemo starts tomorrow. Mike Napoli, can I get a hug and a homer?”
Napoli was quick to oblige the first request, obviously. When somebody’s going through that sort of thing and says she want a hug, you give her a hug. And if you’re Napoli, you also sign a ball and pose for a few pictures, because you’re a cool dude.

The second request? That’s a litter harder to deliver than a hug. If guys could hit homers at will, everyone in the big leagues would hit 162 home runs a year.
Amazingly, though, Napoli came through. In the bottom of the sixth, Napoli blasted a 411-foot homer to left field off former Rangers teammate Derek Holland.
Take a look:
In the end the Indians still got blown out 9-2. But something tells me Mike Napoli and most Indians fans kinda felt like they won. And who could blame them?
