Former Lions WR Calvin Johnson: “I’m Not Coming Back” (Video)

by: Darrelle Lincoln On  Saturday, June 25, 2016

San Francisco 49ers v Detroit Lions

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson abruptly retired after just nine seasons in the NFL, much like former running back Barry Sanders did way back in 1999, both at the top of their game.

Several years after Sanders retired, he finally admitted the Lions organization’s culture of losing was too much to deal with. During Calvin Johnson’s 9 seasons, the Lions posted only two winning seasons and I would bet he has the same reason for retiring as Sanders did.

During the 2016 offseason, Johnson retired and he made it clear on Saturday that if anybody thinks he’s coming back, think again.

I’m not coming back. You don’t have to worry about that,” Johnson told the Detroit Free Press.

“There’s just a time when you’re content with what you did. I’m content with what I did,” Johnson said.
