Breaking: Jon Jones Out of UFC 200 For Doping Violation
Good news for Daniel Cormier. Bad news for Dana White and every MMA fan out there.
Jon “Bones” Jones has been pulled from the main event of Saturday’s highly-anticipated UFC 200 event due to a doping violation.
According to reports, Jones tested positive in an out-of-competition test taken by the USADA on June 16. He has the right to appeal the test under the UFC’s anti-doping policy, and that appeal would not come before Saturday’s light-heavyweight title fight against Cormier—therefore leaving open the slight possibility that their main event still takes place this weekend.
Jones had previously tested positive for cocaine prior to a fight against Cormier back in January 2015, and he was suspended for six months last year following a hit-and-run incident.
It is not know exactly what Jones tested positive for, but the violation could come with a two-year suspension under the UFC’s policy. Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt is now expected to take over as the new main event for UFC 200.
