Kevin Ferguson Jr., 24, has confirmed that he’ll be fighting next month at Bellator on August 26th. Normally, a young fighter making an MMA debut wouldn’t really be a news story, but most new fighters aren’t the son of MMA legend Kimbo Slice, who died three months ago at the age of 42 due to heart issues.

“I was always around the fight business and everything, so I saw it and I understood what was going on,” Ferguson said. “I just knew without a doubt that one day, this was what I wanted to do.”

He says that he spoke with his father about the opportunity before his death and has his blessing to fight.

His opponent for the undercard match should be announced sometime next week.
