Brett Favre’s Wife Deanna Favre Will Be His Presenter at His Hall of Fame Induction
When a football player gets inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame he gets to choose the person who introduces him, thus providing a unique opportunity to pay tribute to someone who played a vital role in his career.
Most guys end up choosing former coaches or teammates. Many pick dads, brothers, or children. But only two have ever picked their wives.
The first was Mike Singletary in 1998. The second is Brett Favre.
Favre will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 6, along with Tony Dungy, Orlando Pace, Ken Stabler, Marvin Harrison, Kevin Greene, Dick Stanfel, and Edward DeBartolo Jr.. This week he announced that he had chosen his wife, Deanna Favre, to be his presenter.
“Deanna is the best teammate I’ve ever had,” Favre said. “She has been by my side throughout this journey and I’m so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me.”
Of course, as you probably know, “been through my side throughout this journey” is a bit of an understatement. Deanna Favre, who worked full time to put herself through college as a single mother, gave up her own career to be with Brett in Green Bay. Then, long after she would have been legally entitled to half of everything he owned, she stuck by him through at least two stints in rehab—one for pills, one for booze—and a handful of extramarital liaisons.
So yeah, Deanna Favre was a pretty good choice.
