Joey Votto Was Kind of a Jerk to a Young Fan Last Night (Tweet)
At last night’s Reds-Giants game in San Francisco, the Reds eeked out a 2-1 win over the Giants, but what is making headlines the next day isn’t the box score. Rather, it’s Joey Votto‘s response to a kid who asked the slugger for his batting gloves.
This tweet sums it up about as well as I could, so here you go:
Kid asks for Joey’s batting gloves. Votto replies “You’re sitting in the front row, you’re elite. This isn’t a ‘Make A Wish’ situation”…

Well, there you go. I guess some people might enjoy being called “elite” by Joey Votto, but little kids could probably care less.
Also, I’m not sure any kid is really needy for batting gloves, so does it matter if the rich kid gets them or not? He’s asking, he’s a fan, and he’s there. I’m sure you have extras.
Anyway, this isn’t the first time Joey Votto’s been a jerk. Reportedly, he’s been acting this way to front-row kids all season. I guess that’s what you get for having great seats and enjoying baseball as a youngster. What a jerk.
