Watch Robert Griffin III Throw a Beautiful 50-Yard Touchdown Pass to Terrell Pryor (Video)
Last week against the Packers, Robert Griffin III connected on just four of eight pass attempts, finishing with 67 yards, no touchdowns, one interception, and a QB rating of 39.1. It was not a performance that inspired a lot of confidence among Browns fans.
This week was a completely different story. On Thursday night against the Falcons, RGIII connected on six of eight passing attempts, finishing with 96 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a QB rating of 154.2.
The two touchdowns weren’t dink and dunk scores, either. The first was a 50-yard bomb to QB-turned-receiver Terrell Pryor:
The second was a beautiful 29-yarder to Gary Barnidge:
Robert Griffin III also added 36 rushing yards on three carries, including runs of 14 and 22 yards. In the end his 132 total yards accounted for 83% of Browns’ offense. Could he finally be the answer at QB for the Browns?
Of course, it’s hard to ignore the fact that RGIII’s breakout performance with Cleveland comes just days after he came clean about his marital problems. (And by “marital problems” I mean banging a college chick seven months after his wife gave birth to his daughter and subsequently filing for divorce.) Maybe all those secrets were weighing him down, and now that everyone knows he’s a douchebag he’ll return to his rookie form.
Or maybe not.
