Mom Fighting Cancer Looks On as Son Smacks a Home Run at LLWS (Video)
As special as the Little League Word Series (or any Little League game, really) can be for the kids, it can be just as special and heartwarming for parents. Over the weekend, little leaguer J.T. Garcia of Iowa knocked a home run while his mom, Jen, looked on.
Jen Garcia is battling pancreatic cancer, and all the players on J.T.’s team were wearing purple bracelets (and continue to) to show their support for his mom’s ordeal. Just moments before the home run, she was speaking to ESPN, telling the interviewer how grateful she was to be there.
She says, “It was very important for me to make the trip and be able to watch the entire team play. They have really come together and become a family.”
It’s awesome she was able to make the trip to Pennsylvania to be a part of this awesome moment.
